Congratulations — You’re engaged! Welcome to the beautiful chaos of wedding planning; where all of your event dreams come to life! At Blooms, weddings are our absolute favorite occasion. I mean…when else do you get the opportunity to indulge this much in flowers?!
Whether you’re looking for an airy & romantic bridal bouquet, a textured & bohemian floral chandelier or all of the above, we’re here for it!
So, where do you start?
First Thing’s First…
To kick off the planning process, we ask all Blooms brides & grooms to complete our inquiry form. Here, we’ll get some basic info regarding your event. While it’s never too early to book your wedding florist, we recommend having a few details ironed out before your consultation:
- Your Wedding Date – This is the most important detail because it determines whether or not the Blooms team is free to design your event!
- Your Venue – Knowing where you’ll be getting married is also an important detail, so we can determine whether your event is within our delivery range, as well as figure delivery costs.
- Your Budget – Finally, having a general estimate of your budget is key. Knowing this, in tandem with your priorities (more on that later) allows us to give you the best recommendations through the planning process.
Other Helpful Details
While date, venue and budget are a great starting point for a successful consultation, the more you have organized before we meet, the better! Knowing your wedding colors & attire (for you, your love and any wedding party members that will be wearing flowers) helps us recommend the best floral color matches.
Another question we always ask our brides & grooms is “Are there any specific flowers you’re looking to feature?” The trick here is working with the Blooms team to figure out which flowers are in-season, based on your event date. For example, dahlias are a beautiful and very popular wedding bloom. However, these flowers typically grow only in the fall. While some out-of-season blooms can be imported year-round, this will likely increase the final cost.
Also, Pinterest is our secret weapon! Even if you have a crystal clear vision, saving images will help our designers get on the same page.
Finally, Know What’s Most Important To You
If relationships teach us one thing, it’s the importance of give and take! When it comes to wedding florals — and wedding planning, in general — we recommend knowing your highest priority in terms of budget, color palette, specific blooms and/or specific pieces. This way, Blooms can create not just the most beautiful flowers for your wedding, but the overall best experience from the moment we meet until the day you say, “I do!”
For example, if it’s imperative that you stick to your budget, we may recommend substituting out a more expensive flower or focusing on personal flowers over a large installation. Or, if peonies have a personal meaning to you but you’re getting married in the summer, we’ll contact our distributors and rework your budget to make sure they’re included.
Really, we’re extremely flexible. Knowing your priorities simply helps us know which way to bend. And if you’re still sorting things out, no worries! You can give us a call at the shop (608-497-3277) to chat. We seriously can’t wait to be a part of your day. Fill out our inquiry form to get started!
